Dr. O’Connor was born and raised in Cork, Ireland to a family of 6 siblings. Her family owns a dairy farm in Ireland and Dr. O’Connor has worked out in the parlour many times to help the family business. She’s excited to be in Canada and would love to learn about Canadian Dairy farming.
Dr. O’Connor was awarded a scholarship and internship to NASA’s prestigious youth astronaut program in Houston Texas, USA while in high school by finishing in first in a national contest in Ireland. Dr. O’Connor also found herself passionate about medicine after her oldest brother and sister were accepted and completed their training as physicians. She went on to job shadow her own dentist and found that Dentistry combined engineering that she was interested in at a young age with medicine which she developed later.
Dr. O’Connor graduated from Cork University Dental Hospital with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. During her time at the dental hospital, she got to rotate around the many specialties both in Dentistry and Medicine. Not only is she technical and precise with her work, Dr. O’Conner’s patients found her chairside manner to be personal and attentive to details. Some are hoping to travel over the Atlantic Ocean to come to see her in Canada for a dental visit.
She met her partner, Dr. Labonne, in Ireland during her Academic pursuit and invited him to work on the dairy farm, and in turn, Dr. Labonne invited Dr. O’Connor to Canada in the summer of 2019. After spending the summer in Canada, Dr. O’Connor really enjoyed how friendly Canadians are and decided she wanted to come back to work as a Dentist after graduating.
On her time off, Dr. O’Connor enjoys squash, hiking, and is a high-performance vehicle enthusiast. She’s excited to be in Drumheller where she wants to make life-long connections with her patients and support the community through volunteering, buying local, and providing personal care through her clinic.
