Tapestry Dental

Originally trained in Mumbai, India, Dr. Tasneem Khan has been practicing in the Lower Mainland for the past 19 years. Dr. Khan is experienced in as aspects of general dentistry, with a focus on preventive and restorative dentistry. She brings a gentle and conservative approach to her patient care.

Dr. Khan is committed to taking continuing education and is an active member of the FOCUS Study Club.

In her spare time Dr. Khan enjoys spending time with her family.

Dr. Howard Kwan was born and raised in the Lower Mainland area. Growing up in Richmond, Dr. Kwan went on to study at the University of British Columbia, earning both his Bachelor of Science degree (1992) and his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree (1996). For the past 20 years, Dr. Kwan has been practicing general dentistry full-time.

Dr. Kwan has a passion for learning, so that he can provide the best possible care for his patients. Every year Dr. Kwan spends more than 100 hours taking courses and hands-on study clubs to improve his knowledge of dentistry. Licensing requirements are such that dentists must take 90 hours of continuing education every 3-year cycle. Dr. Kwan has spent hundreds of hours studying complex restorative dentistry and orthodontics.

In his spare time Dr. Kwan enjoys spending time with his wife and two school-age children. Dr. Kwan enjoys working out, cycling, and the occasional game of golf.

Dr. Shamsher Sandlas is a Board-Certified Specialist in Periodontics with a passion for delivering impressive patient care and advancing oral health. A graduate of the University of British Columbia (UBC) Dental School, Dr. Sandlas began his career in private practice, honing his clinical skills and patient-focused approach.

Dr. Sandlas’ commitment to excellence led him to complete a hospital residency at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH), where he worked alongside plastic surgeons, ENT specialists, oral surgeons, and emergency medicine professionals. This multidisciplinary experience enriched his understanding of complex cases and comprehensive care.

Dr. Sandlas further enhanced his skillset by earning a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree and a specialty in Periodontics from UBC. During this time, he received the Nobel Biocare Achievement in Osseointegration Award, an honour given to students for distinguished performance in dental implant education, treatment planning, and clinical achievement. This accolade highlights Dr. Sandlas’ skill and dedication to advancing implant dentistry.

Known for his charming, empathetic, and easygoing approach, Dr. Sandlas is committed to building strong relationships with patients and colleagues alike. His clinical focus includes treating periodontal disease, performing advanced gingival augmentation (gum grafts) and bone grafting procedures, and thriving in dental implantology.
